Foot Type
Normal size arches -
Push Off
There is even distribution from the front of the foot. -
Considered Injuries
Less likely due to effective shock absorption, but neutral runners are not immune to injury. -
How your foot contacts the ground
The foot lands on outside of the heel, then rolls inward (pronates) to absorb shock and support body weight.

Foot Type
Low arches or flat feet -
Push Off
Big toe and second toe do majority of the work. -
Considered Injuries
Shin splints, plantar fasciitis, bunions, heel spurs. -
How your foot contacts the ground
The foot lands on outside of heel, then rolls inward (pronates) excessively, transferring weight to inner edge instead of ball of the foot.
The GEL-KAYANO® 28 shoe creates a stable stride that moves you towards a balanced mindset. Featuring a lower-profile external heel counter, this piece cradles your foot with improved rearfoot support. To improve stability and responsiveness, we added FF BLAST™ cushioning to the midsole. It provides a smooth and supportive feel in each step. The trainer's new GEL® technology shape delivers a smooth stride, allowing you to experience a softer landing without losing speed.

Smooth comfortable ride. My last pair was Kayano 22 so you can understand how long these shoes lasted. I did have other Kayano's in the past and they lasted a long time too. Back in the day I was doing more running, Now it's mostly walking and they a great for both. If I'm still alive when I need another pair it will be ASICS.

Awesome Shoes!
My husband has flat feet and has trouble finding comfortable shoes. After buying one pair of the Gel-Kayano 28 shoes, he liked them so much that he ordered a second pair! His feet no longer hurt! Thank you!!!

Nicely cushioned, but didn’t work for me
While the cushioning is fantastic, the toe box is a bit narrow, and after just a few wears I began to feel discomfort in the bottom of my foot. I realize that everyone’s feet are different, but these just didn’t work for me. This is my first such experience with an ASICS running shoe. Unfortunately, I was unable to return them due to the ASICS return policy.

Nice improvement over the 27
Nice improvement over the 27. My 27 ended up breaking down within 3 months of light use. Most of been a manufacture defect. Ended up upgrading to the 28. Normally I use custom orthotics and was surprise how much support the new ones had. Almost be willing to pay for the 29 that came out.
