The METARACER™ TOKYO shoe is made for runners who want the most out of their fast-paced training and racing. Featuring a limited model offering, this iteration is displayed with a Sunrise Red colorway to symbolize and celebrate the city of Tokyo and the country of Japan. The upper is designed to capture as much airflow as possible, which helps keep feet cool. This cooling provided by the shoe means your body does not have to work as hard to keep you cool. The upper also has drainage ports to release any water that might get into the shoe. GUIDESOLE™ technology features an improved toe-spring shape. These two components are combined to reduce the movement of the ankle joint, helping runners save energy with each stride. Combined with a carbon fiber plate in the midsole, this shoe generates a rolling motion that actually propels the foot forward, producing a totally unique running experience. The METARACER™ TOKYO shoe with GUIDESOLE™ technology is designed to help you take your racing to the next level.

Designed For Underpronation Neutral

  • Foot Type

    High arches
  • Push Off

The pressure is on smaller toes on outside of foot.
  • Considered Injuries

Plantar fasciitis, shin splints, ankle strain.
  • How your foot contacts the ground

The outer side of the heel hits the ground at an increased angle with little or no normal pronation, causing a large transmission of shock through the lower leg.

  • Foot Type

    Normal size arches
  • Push Off

There is even distribution from the front of the foot.
  • Considered Injuries

Less likely due to effective shock absorption, but neutral runners are not immune to injury.
  • How your foot contacts the ground

The foot lands on outside of the heel, then rolls inward (pronates) to absorb shock and support body weight.
  • Carbon Plate
Carbon forefoot plate that gives structure to the curved sole.
  • GUIDESOLE™ Technology
The curved sole design and stiff forefoot of our GUIDESOLE™ technology reduce ankle flexion and provide a shock-absorbent landing zone to lessen fatigue of other leg muscles and increase runner efficiency.
  • FLYTEFOAM® Midsole Technology
Our FLYTEFOAM® technology provides exceptional bounce back and responsiveness no matter the distance, utilizing organic super fibers to help reduce packing out that traditionally happens with softer, low density foams.
  • ASICSGRIP™ Technology
ASICS proprietary outsole rubber provides high grip on various terrain, without compromising durability.
  • WET GRIP® Outsole
An outsole made from a special blend of organic and non-organic components, designed to enhance traction even on wet surfaces.
  • Engineered Mesh Upper
Multi-directional mesh material improves ventilation and stability.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Small fast runs, light weight This shoe is very light as I am a Gel-Nimbus fan myself. If you are a fast runner, need a neutral shoe and doesn’t need much cushion in the front of your feet then this probably might work for you. I am going to use it for 5K or 3.5 mile runs (especially in the terrains of Pittsburgh, PA). The size, it is a bit difficult to put your feet in without a shoehorn. It does have that tight grip in the center of the foot (where the arch is) and good space in the front. It was not easy to remove the shoe. You definitely need thinner socks as it was a discomfort with the thicker socks. The run was quite fast and your feet tend to land more on the front than on your heel, which is a good sign of running but there is not much of cushion on the front so it ends up with pain in the upper calf/lower-back knee when you run for longer than 4.5 miles. This is probably a shoe for fast runners who want to run 5K, who need less cushion in the front and is a good, light weight shoe. But, other than the new carbon plate inside, I don’t think the price is worth it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Metaracer Love them! Super quick shoes. Just note, they don’t have as much cushion as some other running shoes, but if you are looking for a shoe in between a high cushion and race shoe, this is it. Also, they look red in the picture, but are closer to a neon orange/red.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Metafast! Just ran my first sub 20 5K of the year in my new Metaracers. All the talk about feeling less fatigue and the shoe propelling you forward is all true! If you are looking for a new race day shoe, these are it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great for tempo runs! Great shoes for tempo runs and faster paced workouts while I was training for a 5k. Not the most supportive shoe so I wouldn’t run in them for more than 3 miles probably, but great for lacing em up on the track or on the course!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent fast pace racing shoe I'm a casual runner( 6' 2" @ 229pds) that is used to run on Asics Novablast at about 7:45 mi pace. Tried the Metaracer and run a fairly easy 6:22 mi pace, the shoe feels very light and responsive also the fitment was excellent, went thrue to size at 11.5 US shoe weighted 8.15 oz on my size.
