The GEL-KAYANOā„¢ 12.1 sneaker combines iconic design details from the version that launched in 2006 and harmonizes them with a modern tooling system.

This design's upper was inspired by European gothic armor and its structural, metallic properties. The upper also features a combination of sporty emboss synthetic leather overlays sporty open mesh underlays that help keep feet cool and comfortable.

The midsole features the same tooling system as the GEL-NIMBUSā„¢ 17 shoe. It was originally engineered for comfort during the marathons, featuring dual GELā„¢ technology inserts and a FLUIDRIDEā„¢ cushioning structure.
