ASICS Skateboarding Shoes

Past and present come together in the new ASICS lineup of skating shoes, now available online in the United States. The collection builds on our decades-long legacy of designing footwear that empowers people to move their bodies and minds.  Each of our skating shoes pulls from a chapter in ASICS sports history, blending authentic designs from the archives with modern technology for comfort, support, and durability.

How ASICS designs skateboarding shoes

Our new skate shoes were born from studies at the ASICS Institute of Sport Science, where we analyzed skateboarders' precise movements across different surfaces and obstacles. The insights we uncovered are engineered into the skating shoes we make, which includes a full line of unisex skate shoes that can be worn both as men’s skate shoes and women’s skate shoes..

What are the differences between the ASICS skateboarding shoes?

With a range of influences and features, it’s easy to find the best skate shoes for your style at ASICS. The JAPAN PRO™ skate shoe features a classic low-top silhouette based on the FABRE™ JAPAN S™ basketball shoe from 1981.  An elastic band and thicker tongue work to help provide a comfortable, supportive feel. The VIC™ NBD skating shoe continues the court-inspired look, borrowing from 1989’s GEL-EXTREME sneaker and adding FF BLAST™ cushioning and design cues from original Onitsuka Tiger Corsair running shoe. Both these durable skate shoes feature triple-stitched suede upper construction to help resist wear, with the VIC™ NBD shoe adding mesh for advanced airflow.

Lastly, the GEL-FLEXKEE™ PRO 2.0 shoe rounds out our skate sneakers lineup with premium engineering from the ASICS Institute of Sports Science. This skate trainer features a continuous groove extending from the bottom of the outsole to the perimeter of the front for increased flexibility. GEL® technology is strategically placed in the heel for impact absorption. In addition to a flexible synthetic toecap, the upper features a durable asymmetric construction that makes it easier to keep your skateboarding shoes in contact with the board.
