ASICS Road Tested Program

As part of the ASICS initiative for a sound Earth , we're giving shoes a chance for a second lap to reduce waste through the ASICS Road Tested program.

What is the Road Tested program?

When it comes to shoes, especially running and training shoes, getting the right pair is crucial. With different running styles, training habits, pronation types , and individual preferences, not every shoe is perfect for everyone. Often, shoes are returned after little to no use. That is when the Road Tested program comes in. Instead of discarding these gently used shoes and creating more waste, they go through the program and are offered to the next athlete at a discounted price.

The Road Tested program allows ASICS to pursue its sustainability initiatives by reducing waste and offering shoes a second chance, a second lap. After all, a Sound Mind in a Sound Body™ requires a sound Earth.

How does it work?

Once shoes are returned, they are inspected for eligibility for the Road Tested program. Whether in-store or mailed to an ASICS location through online returns, ASICS staff check the shoes for any damage or wear. Only gently used shoes are accepted into the program to ensure that the next athlete receives shoes that live up to the ASICS standard.

After its initial inspection, Road Tested shoes are thoroughly cleaned. They are brushed and disinfected, inside and out, then set out to dry. Once dry, the shoes are marked with a Road Tested sticker in the heel. For in-store shoes, they’re placed in a box, also marked with a Road Tested sticker and placed back on shelves for the next athlete. Online, product pages you will see if Road Tested options are available in the models you’re looking for.

What can you expect from a Road Tested shoe?

We strive to provide a high standard of performance in all our ASICS shoes and clothing so every person can perform at their athletic best. While Road Tested shoes are used, we ensure that each shoe meets a high standard, so it does not hinder the next athlete.

Starting with the soles, we inspect them for excessive wear. Only shoes that have little to no wear on the sole qualify to become a Road Tested shoe so you can run easy knowing that you’ll have the traction you need. The laces are also checked for stretching, damage and discoloration, so that while you run, the shoes maintain the tightness and snugness that you need. Upper cleanliness and color are also inspected.

ASICS and One Tree Planted

To further our sustainability initiatives, ASICS has partnered with One Tree Planted. They are a non-profit organization dedicated to global reforestation, and we are proud to work with them in their efforts to make the world greener, one tree at a time. With every purchase of Road Tested shoes, ASICS will plant a tree through our partnership with One Tree Planted. Not only will each purchase keep a pair of shoes out of the landfill, it will also mean one more tree is planted for a greener planet.

Road Tested shoes can be found both online at ASICS.com or in ASICS retail locations. Online, while browsing different models, shoes with Road Tested options will be indicated with “Road Tested Available” under size options. In store, while browsing the shelves, you’ll find Road Tested shoes clearly marked with stickers on the box and in the heel of the shoes.
