Celebrating ASICS athletes on the road to Paris.

ASICS Olympic Spotlight Mallory Velte

Meet Mallory Velte

  • Sport: Freestyle Wrestling
  • Hometown: Sacramento, CA
  • ASICS Athlete Since 2022

Mallory Velte was born and raised in Sacramento, CA. She was first inspired to try wrestling in 8th grade, but was denied when she asked to join her school’s team. It was a discouraging start that made her think “wrestling wasn’t for girls.” The script flipped at Christian Brothers High School, where she was approached by the school’s wrestling coach and encouraged to take up the sport. She went on to win back-to-back California State Championships in 2012-2013 and decided to continue her wrestling career at Simon Fraser University.

Mallory’s success continued in college. In 2016, she finished 3rd in the U.S. Olympic Team Trials and won her first of 3 WCWA National Championship titles. In addition to her athletic accomplishments, she earned a master’s degree in Sport & Performance Psychology. Upon turning professional, she earned bronze medals at the 2018 and 2022 World Champions. She’s competed in both the 62kg and 65kg weight classes throughout her career.

Currently, Mallory lives in Oregon, training at the Beaver Dam Regional Training Center in hopes of competing at the Olympic Games.

ASICS Olympic Spotlight Nick Lee

Meet Nick Lee

  • Sport: Freestyle & Folkstyle Wrestling
  • Hometown: Evansville, IN
  • ASICS Athlete Since 2023

Nick Lee joined our athlete family in 2023. Growing up in Evansville, Indiana, wrestling was just one of the sports in his rotation alongside soccer, basketball, and football. He eventually focused his training on wrestling, and in high school became the Indiana State Champion before committing to Penn State University.

At Penn State, Nick was a 2-time NCAA National Champion at 141lbs and a 5-time All American. After graduating with his degree in political science, he claimed both Final X Championship and U.S. Open Championship titles in 2023. He began 2024 with a gold medal victory at the Pan American Championships, and he’ll compete for a chance to go to Paris at Penn State in April.

Join us in cheering on Mallory and Nick as they train for the world’s stage! In the meantime, learn more about the rest of our incredible ASICS Athletes.
