What’s New in the GEL-CUMULUS® Shoe
February 1, 2026
The GEL-CUMULUS® trainer has been upgraded for 2026, but how does it compare to last year’s iteration? Read on to learn what to expect in the GEL-CUMULUS® 28 shoe, available 3/1.

Who is the GEL-CUMULUS® shoe for?
Since 1999, the GEL-CUMULUS® shoe has been a staple for daily training: comfortable, versatile, and ready to take on various distances. We suggest trying the GEL-CUMULUS® 28 shoe if you want:
- A lightweight feel with soft landings and responsive cushioning
- A comfortable, reliable daily trainer that can tackle a range of workouts
- Neutral or underpronation support
What’s familiar this year
Like its predecessor, the GEL-CUMULUS® 28 shoe features PureGEL™ technology in the rearfoot for impact absorption, an 8mm drop height, and a FLUIDRIDE™ outsole that combines reliable traction with a soft feel underfoot.

What’s new this year:
As always, we implemented our philosophy of kaizen (“continuous improvement”) to make the GEL-CUMULUS® 28 shoe the best version yet:
- Reduced weight: the GEL-CUMULUS® 28 shoe is approximately 6g lighter than the GEL-CUMULUS® 27 shoe (based on a men’s US size 9)
- More responsive cushioning: FF BLAST™ MAX foam delivers a smooth, comfortable ride with great energy return
- More durability: a new rubber material in the heel delivers enhanced durability and traction in a high-wear area
