Find the right shoes for your workout
A good workout starts from the ground up, and that means picking the right pair of gym shoes. Women's workout shoes from ASICS, along with women's training and gym gear and our full line of men's training and gym gear, can support you as you power through a HIIT session, lift weights or do sprints on the treadmill.
Look for gym training shoes with advanced technologies, like impact-absorbing cushioning that reduces stress on your joints. Consider shoes for the gym that have integrated support, like the ASICS TRUSSTIC™ system that provides exceptional stability without adding weight. Or those with the 4D GUIDANCE SYSTEM™ adaptive support that works with the way your body moves.
Breathable, comfortable shoes keep your feet cool during even the most intense workouts. ASICS training shoes are versatile and flexible enough to cover a range of gym activities. The right shoes enhance your performance, helping you get the most out of every rep, set, interval, step and lap. Whatever your fitness goals and workout style, we have the perfect pair of fitness shoes. We know that great workouts start with great gym shoes.
What are training shoes?
Training shoes are athletic shoes designed for a mix of workouts, from strength training to HIIT cardio to multi-directional agility drills.
Good workout shoes provide cushioning, support, stability and traction in designs that keep you comfortable. Your workout may include pivots, jumps, lateral movements and sudden bursts of speed, which call for good cross-training shoes.
Gym shoes that support strength training require supportive technologies. For tough workouts, the best HIIT shoes, weight-lifting shoes and other workout shoes are made of durable, breathable materials to keep your feet cool as you sweat it out.
What shoes should you wear to the gym?
Choosing the right shoes for the gym starts with considering the type of workout you usually do. Here are some top-pick versatile workout shoes to consider:
- HIIT training shoes: The ASICS GEL-NIMBUS® running shoe offers responsive cushioning for high-impact moves, with a sole designed for traction and control through quick changes of direction.
- Shoes for strength training: ASICS GT-2000™ fitness shoes are a good choice for weight lifting. They're designed for stability and balance, with support you can depend on. Some ASICS customers use their skate shoes or Sportstyle shoes for weight lifting, as their flat sole provides full-foot contact with the ground.
- Shoes for everyday training: The flexible versatility of the ASICS GEL-CUMULUS® shoe makes it a strong choice for cross-training workouts. Its cushioning softens landings, and a breathable upper keeps you comfortable from start to finish.
How do you wash gym shoes?
To keep your best gym shoes looking good and performing well, clean them regularly. Remove excess dirt with a soft brush. Hand wash them with mild soap and warm water.
If you must machine wash them, use the delicate cycle and dry them with towels to protect the shoes and minimize banging that can damage your machine.
Air-dry your shoes away from direct heat or sun. Do not put them in the dryer.
