ASPHALTGOLD X EX89

After the celebrated first collaboration in 2018, ASICS & Asphaltgold now come together again for a second round.

In their first collaboration, ASICS and Asphaltgold laid the foundation with the GEL-DS TRAINER™ “Judengstil” shoe which was heavily inspired by the history (in arts) of Asphaltgold’s home town, Darmstadt. Now a basketball silhouette will be added with the EX89™ “Impromptu”.

The whole concept is based around “Impromptu”. The term comes from Jazz music and describes an improvised music piece that is played a number of musicians together. They all play for themselves individually but have to look after each other in a musical sense at the same time.

The EX89™ “Impromptu” shoe combines satin lining with a mix of nubuck, hairy suede and soft leather on the upper of the shoe. Simple elements like the Asphaltgold flaglabel and the printed insole emphasize the complexity and effortlessness. You can also find the logo of “Impromptu” in one shoe and ASICS x Asphaltgold in the other. Asphaltgold stays true to its color palette of their first collaboration and combines a harmonic mix of different cream tones with ginger peach and glacier grey.
