SOLOIST X GEL-QUANTUM 360

ASICS SportStyle is proud to announce our collaboration with TAKAHIROMIYASHITATheSoloist., which reworks the GEL-QUANTUM 360™ VII sneaker outsole into a contemporary Chelsea boot. This design halos TAKAHIROMIYASHITATheSoloist.’s design ethos by creating elements that seem to include symbolism, but don’t and vice versa.

The inspiration for using a Chelsea boot’s upper stems from TheSoloist’s designer, Miyashita’s admiration of The Beatles, who famously wore the sleek boot silhouette in the 1960s. This shoe’s upper is formed with a polished leather construction that’s met with suede accents on the heel and pull-tabs. Meanwhile, the stretch webbing around the ankle area rounds out the boot’s classic construction influences.

This project features the GEL-QUANTUM 360™ VII sneaker’s advanced tooling to create a hybrid design that contrasts traditional and technical aesthetics. Its Scutoid GEL™ technology was developed by the ASICS Institute of Sport Science as a lifestyle-specific cushioning technology. Because of the material’s three-dimensional geometry that’s structured to help create better impact absorption during everyday scenarios. Additionally, the tooling is also layered with the FF BLAST™ cushioning that’s used in our brand’s performance running shoes. The foam has been re-tuned for everyday purposes, while still providing an energised feel underfoot.
