A lighter footprint for a brighter tomorrow.

Since our founding in 1949, our purpose has been to help people achieve a Sound Mind in a Sound Body. But in order to achieve Sound Mind, Sound Body, we need a sound earth to run on.

So we’re taking action — reducing carbon emissions, embracing recycled materials and using less resources to continue bringing the benefits of movement to the world we love to run on.

GEL-KAYANO™ 30 packaging with carbon footprint label

Our carbon footprint label

The new carbon footprint label is part of our continuing efforts to reduce our carbon emissions. We are measuring and sharing the carbon footprint of our products, allowing wearers to make decisions that not only benefit mind and body, but also the planet.

Our circular approach to addressing climate change

This means using less materials, reusing materials and making longer-lasting products.

Our materials

Animation of recycled fabric

Polyester Fabric from Recycled PET Bottles

Polyester production from recycled PET bottles emits less CO2e and uses less fossil resources than traditional polyester production.

At least 70% of the GEL-CUMULUS™ 25 shoe’s main upper* is made with polyester fabric from recycled PET bottles.

Recycled Fabric from Textile Waste

Less than 1% (estimated) of the material used to make all clothing is recycled — we aim to change that.

The GEL-LYTE™ III OG SHIGEN shoe’s main upper* is made using 60% recycled felt from textile waste.

Bio-Based Materials

We use bio-based materials, which helps reduce the consumption of fossil resources.

The GEL-KAYANO™ 30 shoe features FF BLAST™ PLUS ECO cushioning, which is made with at least 20% bio-based material.

Animation of solution dyes

Solution Dyeing

Solution dyeing will help reduce carbon emissions from our dyeing by 45% and reduce water usage by 33%.

The GT-2000™ 11 shoe’s sock liner is made using a solution dyeing process.
