What’s New in the GEL-NIMBUS® 26 Shoe

One year ago, we celebrated the 25th anniversary of the GEL-NIMBUS® series and introduced the GEL-NIMBUS® 25 shoe. Its design was a major evolution featuring a taller stack height, all-new materials, and more cushioning than ever before. For 2024, we’ve improved upon the design to bring you the new GEL-NIMBUS® 26 shoe. Read on to learn what’s under the hood of the latest version.
Why GEL-NIMBUS®?
Since the beginning, the GEL-NIMBUS® series has been focused on delivering cloud-like comfort. The first version debuted in 1999 and used GEL™ technology — which was fairly new at the time — to provide much-needed shock absorption on longer runs.
Today, distance runners who prefer an extra-cushioned ride still turn to GEL-NIMBUS®, but our materials technology has come a long way. Using PureGEL™ (which is softer and lighter and GEL™) and FF BLAST™ PLUS ECO cushioning, the GEL-NIMBUS® 26 shoe provides unmatched comfort without compromising on weight.
Our Design Philosophy
The ASICS design philosophy is based on kaizen, meaning “continuous improvement.” With each iteration of a shoe, we carefully consider customer feedback, wear test data, and technological improvements to guide our next steps. For GEL-NIMBUS® 26, this meant carrying over core design elements while fine-tuning the details for even more comfort.

- A 41.5 mm / 40.5 mm heel height for men’s and women’s, respectively.

Better Traction
New HYBRID ASICSGRIP™ and AHARPLUS™ outsole rubbers provide better grip, advanced durability, and a soft feel underfoot.
Improved Midfoot Fit
The new engineered knit upper creates a softer, more supportive midfoot hold with an easy step-in.
Upgraded Style
Although the stack height remains the same, the shoe’s side profile has been reworked for a sleeker, more streamlined appearance. Plus, we’re thrilled to introduce versatile new colorways that look just as good on rest day as they do on your runs.
Sustainability
As part of our commitment to a sound Earth, we are measuring and sharing the GEL-NIMBUS® 26 shoe’s environmental impact with a carbon footprint label. We’re proud to say that the newest iteration has a carbon footprint 25% lighter than the industry average.*

A Step Toward Better Foot Health
In addition to going through rigorous wear testing at the ASICS Institute of Sports Science, the GEL-NIMBUS® 26 shoe has earned the American Podiatric Medical Association (APMA) Seal of Acceptance. This means it was carefully evaluated by committee of podiatrists — doctors who specialize in treating the foot, ankle, and structures of the leg — to ensure that it promotes good foot health. The committee also assesses safety, quality control, and other data, so you can step into your new shoes with confidence.
