The GEL-CUMULUS™ 16 carries a distinctly 2010s running silhouette, glossy overlays, no-sew paneling, and mesh underlays, that's aged into exactly the kind of retro-technical look streetwear pulls from. It sits alongside other ASICS SportStyle heritage models like the GEL-NYC™ and GEL-1130™ as part of that same design lineage. The colourway range backs that up too, spanning muted greys and blacks through to brighter pastel and multi-tone options, so there's room to match it to whatever else is in rotation.

The GEL-CUMULUS™ 16 is built for everyday wear as part of ASICS' SportStyle range, so it skips the usual half-size-up advice we'd give for a performance running shoe dealing with long-run swelling. For more certainty, ASICS' FOOT-ID service is a free in-store appointment where fitting specialists check your gait and foot shape against the shoe, so you're working from more than a size chart.

The GEL-CUMULUS™ 16 has moved into ASICS' SportStyle range, so it's built on the DNA of its 2014 running heritage rather than tuned for training or racing today. Stability versus neutral is a running-range classification that doesn't carry over here either, since the dual GEL™ technology, FLUIDRIDE™, and FLYTEFOAM™ on board are heritage cushioning built for everyday comfort, not structural support. If you prefer running shoes that suit your overpronation and need more support underfoot, the GT-2000™ and GEL-KAYANO are built for exactly that.
