HALS MARK II X GEL-1130
ASICS and HAL STUDIOS have once again united for the second installment of their ongoing conversation and collaborative partnership.
Inspired by the natural world, the palette of the GEL-1130 MK II nods to the beauty of Japan's lush forests and the Shinto shrines often found within them. Wide-open breathable mesh and hairy suede paneling coated in shades of green are contrasted against brown leather accents and antique white midsoles. The Shinto shrines are highlighted by striking hits of orange found on the GEL cushioning heel unit, insoles, and collaborative rubber hang-tag.
The GEL-1130 MK II FOREST celebrates ASICS' innovative technology fused with the HAL STUDIOS "Design Thinking" ideology. Following the approach of the MK I release, the MK II iteration continues the "maximal minimalism" ethos by reducing the usual characteristics and aesthetics of a traditional sports shoe. Instead, the design accentuates the retro-futuristic form and shape of the archival running silhouette through the pairing of contrasting textures and tones.
First released in 2008, the GEL-1130 silhouette has preserved its TRUSSTIC⢠support system to provide underfoot stability, while the iconic GEL technology cushioning in the heel unit absorbs shock, offering superior comfort and support ā core to the sneakers' original identity.
