What are GORE-TEX™ shoes for running?

A GORE-TEX™ running shoe uses GORE-TEX™ material in the upper part of the trainer. This is a waterproof yet breathable fabric which repels liquid, while allowing water vapour to pass through. This makes it ideal for use in running shoes when you’re training in damp conditions. The GORE-TEX™ stops water getting in, so your feet don’t get wet. At the same time, heat can escape from inside the shoe, so your feet don’t overheat or get too sweaty. 

When do you need a GORE-TEX™ running shoe?

Anyone who regularly trains in damp conditions can benefit from GORE-TEX™ running shoes. But there are certain runners who particularly benefit:

• Trail running: GORE-TEX™ trail running shoes are especially popular among trail runners. Since trail runners regularly train in damp conditions, crossing hard to avoid puddles, muddy patches and even streams, choosing a GORE-TEX™ trail running shoe can significantly improve comfort and performance when your feet hit the water. 
• Running in snow: If you run somewhere that experiences regular snowfall, then GORE-TEX™ running shoes can make training much more comfortable, keeping cold water out of your footwear. 
• Racing in wet weather: Although regular running shoes can provide some resistance to passing showers, GORE-TEX™ running shoes can be very helpful if you are running in a race on an especially rainy day.
