THE FILM: SOLE OF KOBE

In 1949, Kihachiro Onitsuka started his company in Kobe, Japan with the hopes of using athletics to raise the self-esteem of youth post-war.

This film series tells the story of how his ingenuity and philosophies shape the past, present and future of the ASICS brands.

Episode 1: Hope

It was Kihachiro Onitsuka’s desire to inspire the youth and build a better Japan post-war that drove him to create the first pair of ASICS. This is that story.

Episode 2: Title Shot

Kihachiro Onitsuka found inspiration all over, even while eating lunch. This is the story of how an octopus salad led to an innovation that would make the Kobe High School basketball team champions.

Episode 3: Future Moves

After learning about the history of ASICS, we now look towards the future to see the different types of shoes our engineers are designing.
